About the University of Pittsburgh

Founded in 1787, the University of Pittsburgh has evolved into an internationally recognized center of learning and research, ranking 37th among the world’s top 100 universities. The Cathedral of Learning, a historic landmark, is the tallest educational building in the western hemisphere—42 stories and 535 feet (163 m) tall. It is also the geographic and traditional heart of a beautiful 132 acre (53 hectare) urban campus.
