Frankey, having arrived in Pennsylvania from Mississippi, is set free by the attorney John Cary, according to the will of the late James McCary.

The Commonwealth of Pennsylvania County of Allegheny To Wit Know all men by these presents that I John Cary of the Borough of Pittsburgh County of Allegheny and Commonwealth of Pennsylvania aforesaid by virtue of the foregoing letter or Power of attorney Do hereby liberate manumit & emancipate forever the within ~ named negro Girl Frankey and according to the Power and authority vested in me by the said foregoing letter or Power of attorney do by these Presents declare the said Frankey to be here- -by and from the day of the date of these presents manumitted Emancipated and set free given under my hand & Seal the thirtieth day of May in the year of our Lord eighteen hundred & fifteen.
