People, Places and Commemorations
focuses on union organizers, the rank and file, meeting places, and
worker gatherings and celebrations. The role of organizers is documented in the Archives through
correspondence, sign-up cards and charter applications. The rank and file are represented in collections of union
membership cards, employment records, photographs, interviews, and other documents. A start is made in this section on an archaeology of Pittsburgh
labor buildings and on a history of local celebrations of Labor Day.
