PEOPLE, PLACES, COMMEMORATIONS

People, Places and Commemorations focuses on union organizers, the rank and file, meeting places, and worker gatherings and celebrations. The role of organizers is documented in the Archives through correspondence, sign-up cards and charter applications. The rank and file are represented in collections of union membership cards, employment records, photographs, interviews, and other documents. A start is made in this section on an archaeology of Pittsburgh labor buildings and on a history of local celebrations of Labor Day.
