Industrial Unions

Industrial unions organized workers industry wide including unskilled with skilled workers rather than following strict craft lines like traditional unions.  Many of the new industrial unions arose in the 1930's with the Congress of Industrial Organizations (CIO).

Pittsburgh with its powerful work force of Steelworkers, Electrical Workers, Mine Workers and even Shipbuilders was one of the main centers of this development.
